The Ramjas Inter School Debate was first held in 1995 in English. Over 40 schools participated in the very first debate. Encouraged by this response, the debate in Hindi was begun in the subsequent year. The debate is held in two rounds–a preliminary and the finals. Six teams from each qualify for the Finals. The winners in the final round, bag the Running trophy which they get to keep with them for a year.
Each round of the debate has a different topic. Topics are chosen by a committee after much deliberations. Eminent people from all walks of life have judged the debates in various years. Some of the personalities invited were Mrs Louise Khurshid, Namita Gokhle, the well-known author, television news reader Rahul Singh, poet Surender Verma, Mrs Alka Shankar and Mrs Naveen Menon.

The Ramjas Inter School debate in
English and Hindi was held on 4th and
5th December 2007 at the Rai
Kedarnath Auditorium. The debate was
conducted in two stages – the
preliminary and the final
rounds. Over 40 schools of
Delhi participated in this round.
The debates in the Prelim round
were rich in quality and the arguments
were wide-ranging.Judges in both
debates were eminent teachers from
Delhi University and the media.Ten
teams each were selected for the
finals after this very grueling round.
The teams that made it in the finals
in English were New Era Public School,
Maya Puri, Birla Vidya Niketan, Army
Public School, Daula kuan,
Summerfields School, St. Marks's Sr.
Sec. School, Janak Puri, Venkateshwar
International School, St. Thomas
School, Bluebells Intenational School,
Apeejay School, Noida and Ramjas
School, Pusa Road. In Hindi they were
St. Thomas School, Dayawati Modi
Academy, D.L.D.A.V School, Pitam Pura,
Mount Carmel School, Anand Niketan,
Ramjas Sr. Sec. School No.2, Ramjas
School, Anand Parvat and Ramjas
School, Pusa Road.
The topics for debates at the
finals were
"We've
learnt to email but forgotten to
communicate"
in English and
"Ji haan,
hum sabhya hain"
in Hindi.
The judges for the debates were Dr.
Gita Goel, Dr. Premlata and Mr. Lal
Chand for Hindi and Prof. Susan
Visvanathan, Mr. Sanjay Arora and Mrs.
Sanjukta Naskar- all very eminent
scholars and writers. Shri Chandan
Mitra, Member, Rajya Sabha and Editor
of The Pioneer, graced the occasion as
the Chief Guest for the English
debate. Shri Vijay Kishore Manav, the
Associate Editor, Hindustan, was the
Chief Guest at the debate in
Hindi.
The winners the Running Trophy in
English were Army Public School,
Dhaula Kuan, and the Runners up were
New Era Public School. In individual
prizes, the first prize went to
Zorawar Purohit from Army Public
School, Prateek Trehan from
Venkateshwar International School
bagged the second best speaker's prize
and Rahul Narang or St. Mark's School
won the third prize. The conslolation
prizes were awarded to Sahil Agnihotri
and Parul Nanda from the New Era
Public School. While Rohan Gupta and
Ryan Wilson were declared the best
interjectors in the prelims, Arjun
Singh and Shwetang were the best
interjectors in the finals. The
special prize for the best aided
Ramjas School was won by Ramjas Girl's
Sr. Sec. School.
In Hindi, the winners were Ramjas
School, Pusa Road. Therefore the
trophy went to D.L.D.A.V School, Pitam
Pura. The Runners Up was Ramjas School
No.2, but being a host school, the
trophy went to New Era Public School.
Pulkit Gupta of Ramjas School, Pusa
Road, was declared the best speaker,
while Bhavani Malhotra from St. Thomas
School, won the second prize. The
third prize was begged by Manisha Goel
of Ramjas School, Anand Parvat. Himani
Wadhwa and Nikita Aggarwal won the
consolation prizes. The best
interjector's award in the Prelims
went to Bhavini Malhotra and Akshita
Jain. In the Finals, the best
interjectors were Sarthak Patel and
Ratna Chaddha. Ramjas Sr. Sec. School
No. 2 won the special prize for the
best Ramjas aided School.
